Ku-ring-gai Council is looking for the quiet local heroes who have made a difference in the community over the last 12 months.

Each year the Council recognises the outstanding work of local volunteers and others with the Local Citizen of the Year Awards.

The Awards aim to recognise Ku-ring-gai residents who have demonstrated excellent citizenship and a contribution to the local or wider community.

“These awards are a great way of recognising some of our most outstanding citizens” said Mayor Christine Kay, who will present the awards on Australia Day next year along with other Ku-ring-gai Councillors.

“It’s very important for Council to recognise their commitment and effort to help others in our community”.

There are four categories of awards; Citizen of the Year; Young Citizen of the Year; the Mayor’s Award for an Outstanding Contribution by a Community Organisation or Individual and Environmental Citizen of the Year.

The awards will be presented at an official ceremony on Australia Day 26 January 2025.
