Wild with Words school poetry competition

Primary school students (Years 1-6) across Ku-ring-gai are invited to submit poems and accompanying illustrations about a favourite animal, plant, tree or special place in nature, sharing their love and respect for the green heart of Sydney in this poetry competition.

Teachers - encourage your students to write any type of age-appropriate poetry (for example: haiku, acrostic, cinquain or free verse).

Students - you can write about your favourite part of the Ku-ring-gai natural environment: animals, plants, waterways etc. Simply add a hand-drawn or painted picture, scan it and enter online for a chance to win prizes for your school!

You can win:

  • Tree Tops Adventure vouchers.
  • Childrens books.
  • Environmental books.
  • Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden activity vouchers.

Prizes will be delivered to schools in late November. Winning entries will be featured in a printed booklet.

Please make sure you read the terms and conditions before entering the competition.

Entries open via an online form on 14 October 2024.

Entries close 15 November at 5pm.

Please contact Sally Eriksen at seriksen@krg.nsw.gov.au if you have any questions.
