Join Freshwater Education in this interactive, fun and tasty bush tucker cooking experience! Learn about types of Aboriginal bush tucker and sustainable food harvesting methods. Participants will make their own buck tucker inspired lunch.
Suitable for ages 8 - 12yrs. A parent or guardian is required to stay with children for the entire length of program.
Belinda Huntriss is a mum, teacher and education consultant. Belinda grew up in Worimi Country on the mid north coast of NSW and is of Aboriginal, English and Irish descent. Belinda has worked in Aboriginal education for more than 15 years, from early childhood to university. Belinda is passionate about providing opportunities for all Australians to learn about and connect with Aboriginal people and culture.
This workshop is funded by Ku-ring-gai Council's Environmental Levy.
The Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden is one of Sydney's best kept secrets, set across 123 hectares of unique urban bushland and home to two endangered ecological communities as well as 18 threatened species of flora and fauna. The Wildflower Garden is open to the public all year round and has a range of hikes, step-free walking tracks, picnic areas and heritage venue hire as well as a diverse calendar of environmental education programs.
