Jewellery Design and Making

Take your jewellery from concept to creation. Make rings, necklaces and earrings using sterling silver and gemstones. 

In this course, you will learn the fundamentals of metalsmithing including: 

  • Techniques to design a metal project 

  • Techniques to make a metal project 

  • Metalsmith terminology 

  • Metal cutting; texturing; soldering; forming and finishing metal. 

Christine works with each individual in the class to achieve their own unique jewellery pieces. 

Materials required 

  • Copper sheet 1mm thick (approximately 100x100mm)  

  • Sterling silver round wire 1mm wide (approximately 200mm long)  

  • Silver solder wire .5 thickness EASY and HARD  

  • Adjustable saw Saw blades - I bundle  

  • Size 2/0 Drill bits - one of each size 1mm; 1.5mm; 2mm  

  • Emery paper 1 sheet of each grade 240, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200  

  • Titanium soldering pick  

  • Tweezers 

  • Fine basic brush  

  • Notebook,  

  • pen and pencil  

  • Black marker - fine  

  • Scissors  

  • Small metal ruler  

  • Safety goggles
