Wildflower Nursery

wildflower-nursery

The Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Nursery specialises in locally occurring plants* which are propagated by our staff using locally sourced seeds and cuttings.

We also stock a variety of Australian native plants of all colours, shapes and sizes for just about every position in your garden and although they may not be locally occurring, they are well suited to the Sydney climate.

Our staff are available to help with plant selection and discuss with you the plant species we stock and how these might meet your plant and garden requirements.

*Local provenance plants are plants that naturally occur and belong in the local area and that have evolved to suit the local geological and environmental conditions, making them very well suited for use in gardens and landscapes. Their presence is important as they:

  • Are adapted to the local climatic conditions (including soils and rainfall) and are generally better equipped to survive seasonal changes.
  • Provide both food and shelter to native animals.
  • Assist in maintaining and preserving the genetic biodiversity of the area as many species have adaptations specific to a local area.
  • Help to avoid the potential weed issues that can occur from using both non-local native plant species and exotic plants which may spread into native bushland.
