Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden offers full and half day vacation care excursions during the school holidays. Excursions are run by our experienced and qualified environmental education rangers.

Available themes

Animal Encounters

Connect with your inner animal. Kids will explore our amazing wilderness, meet some of our favourite Australian animals, discover more with an animal habitat building activity and go on a bug hunt using scientific equipment to catch and identify.

Activities included:

  • Animal discovery session.
  • Bug hunt.

Art Adventures

Art with a natural twist. We’ll be discovering the beauty of nature as we explore all kinds of nature art and craft out in the bush. Let your imagination flow with bush murals, botanical drawing, bush sculpture and craft projects using natural materials that we collect. You can take your creations home to show your family and friends.

Activities included:

  • Bush walk.
  • Clay craft.
  • Botanical drawing.
  • Collaborative bush mural activity.

Survival Skills

Want to learn the essential skills for surviving in the wild? In this active, hands-on program we’ll learn some basic bush survival skills. Compass-work, identifying bush foods, making a bush shelter, and bush first aid are among the many skills you’ll gain in this challenging day in the bush.

Activities included: 

  • Bush foods discovery walk.
  • Orienteering.
  • Shelter building.
  • Bush first aid activity.

Fauna encounters and Nature Play are available as a shorter experience (1 - 1.5hrs) if time is limited or if you are utilising the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden and/or St Ives Showground for other activities.
