Turramurra Memorial Park cricket net upgrade
Council intends to upgrade the cricket nets at Turramurra Memorial Park and replace them with a new 2‐bay fully enclosed cricket net. Due to ongoing issues caused by turning trucks at the turning bay to the end of Laurence Avenue, Council will also be relocating the vehicle access gate to the park and constructing a new driveway entry. This will stop the ground damage and soil compaction which is currently occurring at the gate and help prevent ongoing harm to the root structure of the large mature Oak tree which is adjacent to the existing gate.
As part of this project, we will be removing two semi‐mature Plane trees which have been reviewed by Council’s tree management team as:
- T 9‐ Plane tree – Tree with fungal canker on trunk, deemed to have a short life expectancy.
- T 4‐ Plane tree ‐ Tree with minor fungal canker on trunk, requiring removal to facilitate sustainable vehicular access to the park.
Council will also undertake replacement planting as part of this project.
