Ku-ring-gai Council is working with the NSW Government and Schools Infrastructure NSW to build a new multipurpose indoor sports centre at St Ives High School.

The St Ives Indoor Sports Centre is expected to open in early 2026.

Stage 1 complete

In early 2021, the NSW Department of Education delivered the first stage of the new indoor sports centre, including 2 multi-use courts, school canteen, 2 modern classrooms, a fitness lab and a seminar room.

Stage 2 underway

Ku-ring-gai Council is leading the second stage of the sports centre, which is being funded by Council together with a $3.5 million NSW Government grant. School Infrastructure NSW is delivering the project on behalf of Council.

Stage 2 is being built adjacent to the first stage to provide an integrated complex, with a total of 4 indoor courts.

Stage 2 includes:

  • A two-storey sports complex including two additional sports courts, a multi-purpose room, amenities and a café
  • Underground basement car parking with stair and lift access
  • Landscaping works, accessible pedestrian entry and new vehicle access from Horace Street.

The centre will be jointly operated and managed by Council and NSW Department of Education for the benefit of the whole community.

Completed Stage 2 works include:

  • Tiered spectator seating
  • Retaining walls for landscaping
  • Major concrete pours for the building
  • Structural steel framework and roof sheeting underway
  • Installation of an access way and services to change rooms and amenities
  • Roof and sarking for multipurpose rooms
  • Western wall sarking ready for external brickwork and window installation

Ongoing works include:

  • Minor concrete pours
  • Completion of the structural steel framework
  • Completion of roof sheeting and the facade
  • Landscaping works
  • Installing electrical and water services
