4 Pennant Avenue, Gordon
4 Pennant Avenue, Gordon, also known as the former Gordon Bowling Club site, is located to the west of the Pacific Highway between Bushlands Avenue and Cecil Street, Gordon and is about a 700 metre walk from Gordon rail station.
The land is owned by Council and was previously leased to the Gordon Bowling Club who had occupied the site since 1953. In 2017 the Club advised Council that they wished to terminate the lease due to a significant decline in membership. The Club vacated the site in early 2018, since that time the site has remained vacant. Works are currently underway to remediate the site to enable passive recreational use in line with the site contamination analysis, in the interim period, until longer term uses for the community are finalised.
In April 2024 Council resolved to convert the former Gordon Bowling Club site to a new park and recreation area. When complete the new park will have an area of approximately 1.28ha. View the Council resolution.
At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on 13 August 2024, a Notice of Motion was made with regard to setting aside a small portion of the land to be an unleashed dog area. View the NoM resolution.
A master plan is currently being prepared for public exhibition. A mix of facilities will be considered to cater for both active and passive recreation.
