Heritage colours and care
Use the resources on this page to select external paint colours and to care for your historic home in Ku-ring-gai.
Heritage colours guidance
To enhance the authenticity and distinctiveness of your heritage building, Council has produced a free illustrated colours guide to help you select traditional colours.
The guideline contains researched external colour schemes for the main architectural styles found in Ku-ring-gai. These translate historic research into 48 illustrated colour charts for Federation, Inter-war, Post-war and Late Twentieth architecture.
The paint colours in this guide have been updated to current standards where possible and verified as historically accurate by Council’s heritage specialists.
You can use this guide to apply for a heritage home grant for external painting in a traditional scheme.
