Overview of Council response to NSW Government planning reforms

In December 2023, the NSW Government announced a range of major planning reforms to deliver additional housing.

This included:

Ku-ring-gai Council expressed concern that the proposed one-size-fits-all reforms would have a range of unnecessary and unwanted impacts on the Ku-ring-gai Council area, particularly in relation to Ku-ring-gai's environment and heritage and the strain on existing infrastructure and facilities.

Submission

In February 2024, Council lodged a submission on the reforms.

Council work since this time

Since this time, Council has been undertaking a series of actions to plan for additional housing, which considers community feedback and responds to Ku-ring-gai's unique local area.
