Community gardens

Our two community gardens provide areas of shared land where local residents come together to cultivate fresh food, learn about organic gardening and make new friends.

Community gardens have many benefits, including:

  • Promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Social benefits from many participants interacting.
  • Environmental benefits due to decreased necessity for transporting goods and reducing/reusing waste material.
  • Motivating and developing skills residents can apply to their lives.

Both our gardens are welcoming newcomers and those looking to volunteer or manage their own plot of land. Find out more below.

Turramurra Lookout Community Garden

The Turramurra Lookout Community Garden (TLC Garden) is a welcoming and inclusive place where the community can grow organic fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers and enjoy socialising with others. Run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers with assistance from Ku-ring-gai Council and the Turramurra Community Bank branch of the Bendigo Bank, the garden is an inclusive place which regularly hosts workshops and demonstrations on organic food production and sustainable living.

Everyone is welcome to drop by at any time or get involved in one of the garden's working bees on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm.

Address: The Lookout, 1328 Pacific Highway, Turramurra.

Email the gardens to register for a plot or volunteer your time.

West Pymble Community Garden

We are a small community garden in West Pymble, located behind the shops at Phillip Lane. We have 14 raised wicking beds and 9-10 dedicated gardeners growing everything from corn to cucumbers, beans to pumpkin, and more! We are growing herbs, vegetables and citrus trees in raised beds which are all wheelchair-accessible, with composting and rain harvesting ensuring a bountiful crop.

Monthly workshops are held on every second Sunday of the month.

Address: Philip Lane, West Pymble.

Please note that there is currently a waiting list for plots.
