Try Turramurra Festival on Saturday 18 March

The Try Turramurra Festival is being supported through the state government’s Streets as Shared Spaces grant program, designed to breathe new life into suburban centres.

Cameron Park and the Seniors Centre lawn will be the venue for the Festival on 18 March, involving local performers and community organisations.

Festival highlights include:

  • A circus workshop for kids and the chance to play chess on giant outdoor chessboards
  • A free workshop on creating a herb basket, plus advice on growing fresh food from volunteers at Turramurra Community Garden
  • Performances by Ku-ring-gai Youth Orchestra, local dance company Terpischore and the musical brains behind the Wiggles, John Field and his band
  • Speed Painting with Sarah Rowan as she creates works of art on the spot. Be in the running to win one of two fabulous instant paintings between 3pm and 4.30pm on the day
  • Free advice from Council staff on reducing your waste and greenhouse emissions, plus how to make your garden bee-friendly.

Roving entertainers and face painters will be at the festival, along with stalls selling giftwares, pottery, coffee, BBQ meals and boutique beer and wines. Festival goers are also being encouraged to purchase food and drinks from local eateries open on the day.

Mayor Jeff Pettett said the Festival was the final event in the Try Turramurra program, which saw Cameron Park host a free outdoor movie and concert in December last year.

“It’s great to see local businesses getting involved, as well as community organisations having the chance to talk to people about what they do.” 

“We’re grateful to the state government for supporting Try Turramurra and providing funds for the new William Street pedestrian crossing and the art installations in the centre.”
