Ku-ring-gai’s annual Spring Flower Celebration will be coming to Gordon shopping centre and Fox Valley Road shopping centre in Wahroonga.

The celebration will see temporary displays of spring flowers installed in planters from Monday 11 September.

Council staff will work through Sunday night to ensure both displays will be in place to greet residents and commuters on Monday morning.

Both displays will be in place for up to six weeks, depending on weather conditions.

This year colourful planters are being painted by students from Gordon East Public School and the Council’s youth services team with the theme of ‘celebrate spring in Ku-ring-gai’.

It’s the fifth time Ku-ring-gai streets have been brightened by the Spring Flowers Celebration, which started in 2019.

The Celebration was started by the Council as a way of activating local shopping centres and encouraging residents to shop locally.

Mayor Jeff Pettett said this year’s Spring Flowers Celebration would coincide with the completion of upgrade works to St John’s Avenue.

“It’s a great way to welcome in spring and look forward to longer days and warmer nights,” he said.

The Mayor added residents could share their images of the Spring Flower Celebration on social media using the hashtag #krgspringflowers
