School’s out and fun’s in!
Ku-ring-gai Council’s school holiday program has everything from online gaming lessons through to survival skills in the bush.
The Council’s libraries, Wildflower Garden and Arts Centre are offering activities designed for children aged 5 to 12 years.
The public golf courses at North Turramurra and Gordon are also joining in the fun, offering golf lessons for beginners and intermediate players aged 6 to 16 years.
For teens and young adults the Council’s youth team is hosting a live band concert and a skate competition at St Ives Village Green.
Holiday activities can also be booked at the Council’s vacation care centres across Ku-ring-gai. Vacation care offers children arts & crafts, games, sports, excursions and educational experiences during the holidays.
At the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden primary aged children can learn survival skills, cook over a campfire and meet live native animals. Family experiences are also available during the holiday period including guided walks and twilight safaris.
The Ku-ring-gai Art Centre at Roseville has 3-hour art classes for $100 or free of charge if you book online and upload your Creative Kids voucher. Full day classes also available.
Over at Council libraries in Gordon, St Ives, Turramurra and Lindfield monster craft, lessons for beginners in the online Dungeons and Dragons game and writing workshops are just some of the things happening.
To celebrate Youth Week, the St Ives skate park will be the venue for a skate and scooter competition and lessons, free food and pop up games on Saturday 29 April between 10am and 3pm. Also at the event will be a live ‘battle of the bands’ featuring the winners from the 2023 band competitions at Lane Cove and Meadowbank.
Mayor Jeff Pettett said the April school holidays would have ‘something for everyone’.
“Whether your child is sporty, musical or creative there’s bound to be an activity that will keep them entertained. Just go to our website at krg.nsw.gov.au/schoolholidays to find out more and book in.”
