Ku-ring-gai Council is looking for a mural artist to make Lindfield Village Green come alive with colour.

The artist will be commissioned later this year to work on a new public mural at Lindfield Village Green.

The mural will be another in a series of public art projects which the Council has commissioned as part of its Urban Murals program, which began in 2022.

Since then, a range of new works featuring Ku-ring-gai’s native plants and animals have been installed at St Ives Showground and the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden.

This year's mural will be based around the theme of the local community living sustainably through active transport and cycling, in support of the Council’s Net Zero goals.

The mural will be installed at the entrance to the Lindfield Village Green car park in Milray Street, next to newly-installed bike racks.

The mural program is supported by Council’s Active Transport and Arts & Cultural Committees.

Applications open on Tuesday 11 June and close on Tuesday 30 July 2024.

The successful artist will receive a commission for the purchase of supplies and their time to complete the concept and delivery of the artwork. They also have the opportunity for a site visit and discussions with the Council staff to help develop their creative concept.

Mayor Sam Ngai said the mural program had been an engaging way to improve the visual appearance of public places.

“We are offering unique opportunities for artists and groups to showcase their work. The Lindfield Village Green mural will be another way to beautify this space and encourage pedal power among local residents”.
