Donations of tinned and packaged food are being sought to make up hampers for disadvantaged residents and families.
Mayor Christine Kay is inviting the public to donate food to make the festive season happier for people in need in Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby.
The Mayor's Christmas Appeal is on behalf of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney and taking donations until Friday 6 December. Donations of packaged and tinned food can be left at Ku-ring-gai libraries in St Ives, Lindfield, Turramurra and Gordon or at the Council’s customer service centre at Level 4 818 Pacific Highway Gordon.
Festive food such as Christmas cake, tinned hams, plum puddings, bon bons and chocolates are especially welcome, but all packaged and tinned food items can be accepted.
Please note that Lifeline have requested no donations of fresh food can be taken.
Hampers made up from donated food items will be distributed by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney to people in need across the local area.
Mayor Kay said that hampers would be distributed locally by Lifeline ahead of Christmas.
“We hear that vulnerable residents and families are struggling with cost of living increases and this is a great way of brightening up their Christmas”, the Mayor said.
“At this time of year, I encourage everyone in our community to reach out and help those who are doing it tough.”
