Two workshops are being held in June teaching residents how to make sustainable homewares and save money.

The workshops will be on 22 and 26 June, as part of the Council’s community education campaign to help residents live a more sustainable and low-cost life.

On Saturday 22 June between 2pm and 4pm the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden at St Ives hosts a two hour soap-making workshop.

Participants will learn how to make soap from scratch with natural oils and herbal extracts, using the cold soap making method.

Everyone will take home a silicone mould with a bar of soap to cure and receive instructions on how to continue making a supply of soap for their home.

On Wednesday 26 June between 10am and 11am Gordon Library will be the venue for a one hour workshop on how to make your own room sprays.

Using herbs and other botanicals, participants will learn how to make refreshing room sprays at a fraction of the cost of store-bought ones.

No previous experience is required to attend both workshops; for more information and bookings visit krg.nsw.gov.au/whatson
