The summer school holidays just got a whole lot better with some exciting things to do for teens and young adults.

Ku-ring-gai Council has activities planned from cooking and coffee making skills through to a phone photography workshop.

The youth program gets underway on Friday 13 December with the chance for teens to make and decorate their own gingerbread house to take home. The session takes place at the St Ives community centre between 4.30pm and 6pm.

In January culinary skills take off in earnest, starting with a baking class on 13 January between 12pm and 2.30pm also at St Ives community centre.

On 14 January there’s a barista and job-ready workshop at Gordon with all the skills you’ll need to make a great espresso and other café-style coffees.

Next up on 15 January have a try at making authentic dumplings and preparing the perfect filling. You can also enjoy ping-pong, badminton and Switch tournaments between 1pm and 4pm at Gordon youth hub next to Gordon library.

The final cooking class for the summer holidays takes place on 20 January at Gordon with a session devoted to making healthy rice paper rolls.

On Thursday 16 January the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden will host a special phone photography and storytelling workshop.  Learn essential photography techniques and discover how to craft compelling stories on your mobile. For $20 the workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of photography to ensure every shot is a winner in a fun and highly creative session.

Bookings are essential for each activity and suitable for 12-24 year olds; for more information and to book go to Youth programs and workshops Ku-ring-gai
