Community members sought for new committees

Ku-ring-gai Council is seeking applications from community members to serve on two new committees providing advice on natural environment and smart transport issues.
Council voted in December 2024 to establish the Environment and Smart Transport Advisory Committees.
The former Sustainable Recreation Advisory Group has been broadened into the Environment Advisory Committee. This committee will provide strategic advice and feedback to Council on the preservation, management, enhancement and recreational use of Ku-ring-gai’s natural environment.
Meanwhile, the former Active Transport Reference Committee has been broadened into a Smart Transport Advisory Committee.
The committee has been established to provide guidance on the implementation of a sustainable transportation hierarchy that enhances the health, wellbeing, and liveability of the Ku-ring-gai community while contributing to Council’s net zero emissions target.
Each committee will include up to eight community members, who have some expertise in the areas examined by the relevant committee.
Committee member applications can be submitted until Friday 28 February.
Mayor Christine Kay said the committees would play an important role in advising Council on natural environmental and smart transport matters.
“These committees cover areas which are Council priorities, and which are of strong community interest, so we are looking forward to receiving applications from community members who want to provide their valuable advice,” Mayor Kay said.
