Multicultural Advisory Committee
The Multicultural Committee advises the Council on matters affecting local residents from culturally diverse backgrounds. It also has input into policies, plans and activities to promote diversity and inclusivity.
It includes Councillors and representatives of the various multicultural groups in the Ku-ring-gai community.
Expressions of Interest – call for nominations
Ku-ring-gai Council is calling for committed members of the community to join the Multicultural Advisory Committee. This Committee plays a vital role in shaping a more inclusive, connected and vibrant community by advocating for the needs, aspirations and voices of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) residents.
By providing strategic guidance and supporting meaningful initiatives, the Committee helps foster stronger community connections, celebrates diversity and ensures all voices are heard. If you are a Ku-ring-gai resident or represent a community organisation supporting multicultural communities, we invite you to be part of shaping a more inclusive future. When appointing members, Council will consider the following criteria:
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues affecting CALD communities.
- Active involvement in local and/or broader multicultural community affairs.
- Awareness of Council services and programs from a multicultural perspective.
- Ability to contribute strategically to developing the Council's multicultural policies.
- Strong connections to local CALD communities and organisations.
- Relevant experience and understanding of the role of an advisory committee.
If you are passionate about making a difference and supporting Ku-ring-gai’s multicultural community, we encourage you to apply. Please note that committee roles are voluntary unpaid positions.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 28 March 2025.
