In August 2024 meeting, Council endorsed a 2024/25 Prevention of Violence Against Women Action Plan.

This action plan was supported by a working group of key stakeholders, including locally-based stakeholders.

The Action Plan outlines Council’s intentions to address domestic and family violence in the local area over the next 12 months. The plan aligns with State and Commonwealth Government Violence Against Women plans and incorporates research from existing local council action plans.

In October 2024, Council invited applications for a $100,000 Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Grant program, to help implement the Action Plan.

As part of the Action Plan, Council is also co-ordinating a 'Ku-ring-gai says no to gender-based violence' campaign alongside the United Nations 2024 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.
